Why Give Flowers On Mothers Day? - Shopping

Mothers Day, as with many holidays these days has become very commercialised which has led to an increase in the number of gifts and flowers. Anna Jarvis, the woman credited with creating the modern form of Mothers Day actually denounced what the holiday had become and by her death had begun to hate what she called a "hallmark holiday". However, these days it has become a great opportunity to give thanks to the hard work and love of our mothers in the form of gifts - predominantly Mothers Day flowers. Whilst this originated with wild flowers picked from fields, it is now become one of the most popular traditions to give flowers on Mothers Day.

A lot of individuals give Mothers Day flowers in order to express their thanks and love for their mothers - the one day of the year that is dedicated to them. Christmas is more about the children and even birthday become to become less prominent when you get older so the holiday provides an opportunity to display this thanks.

The flower itself is a long established symbol of love and care. Previously, one of the most popular reasons to give flowers is to express romantic love. However, time has change and flowers are now given for a variety of occasions whether it is to celebrate an anniversary, a mother's day, a birthday, a graduation, a grand opening, holidays or even just because! Interestingly flowers are also used to express sadness, a strange contrast to the happiness that is displayed with the giving of Mothers Day flowers as people send flowers to express their sympathy, to say they are sorry, or to wish someone get well soon and so on.

One of the main reasons to give flowers is because of the relatively low price whilst still being a thoughtful and enjoyable gift. They are obviously beautiful but it is flowers that evoked the phrase "it's the thought that counts" with each flower having a different meaning so regardless of the budget you are working to, you can give a gift that will express your love and gratitude to your mother.

It's also a lot easier these days. Ordering flowers used to be a lot more difficult as it used to involve going to the local florist and asking for a particular bouquet and ending up running up quite a bill. However, online shopping has made it so easy and inexpensive that purchasing flowers can be done from any computer or phone within 5 minutes and delivered as a thoughtful and attractive bouquet, right to your mothers doorstep.
