Mothers Day flowers are one of the most common gifts on the holiday, along with chocolates and cards. It is said that flowers make the best statement when you cannot express your feelings into words. As a result, many individuals give Mothers Day flowers in order to express their thanks and love for their mothers. However, you should be very careful with what kind of flowers for Mother's Day you choose. There are so many combinations and color choices that you can pick. You just have to select the ones that suit your mother and the feelings that you wish to convey, the best.
There are a lot of flower choices from carnation, Chrysanthemums, tulips not to mention the various different color choices. In fact, a lot of individuals will choose the flowers based purely on their mums favorite colors and overlook the fact that each flower has a different meaning. For example, pink roses are one of the most commonly chosen Mothers Day flowers and are a token of appreciation and admiration - themes that are very closely linked with the holiday. Daffodils, another Mothers Day flowers favorite, represent respect whilst yellow lilies represent happiness. Violets are also commonly linked with March which is the month in which most countries celebrate the day.
Possibly the most popular Mothers Day flower is the carnation. This stems (if youll excuse the pun!) back to the holidays origination when Anna Jarvis, the West Virgina (US) citizen that first started the holiday as we know it now, delivered 500 carnations in 1908 when the holiday started. Often people will be seen wearing carnations, a similar show of respect and love. The reason Anna selected the flower in the first place was because it was the favorite flower of her recently deceased mother. After a lot of promotion by both Anna and florists wishing to encourage the purchase of other flowers or even just different colour carnations, it became commonplace to wear white carnations if your mother has passed away and red carnations if they are still living.
These days the importance of the flower has diminished somewhat with the majority of Mothers Day flowers being purchased based on the colors or the way they look. However, the right bouquet can mean a lot more than a nice present with a whole host of feelings and thoughts conveyed in a Mothers Day flower arrangement.
Ordering Mothers Day flowers used to be a lot more difficult than it now is. It used to involve going to the local florist, and in most cases have to choose from the last remaining flowers to put into what can barely be described as a bouquet which you then take to your mum.
